This Instax camera takes instant film. Majority of the cameras on the market take a mini instant film about the size of a standard business card while the wide film is the size of about of two business cards or twice the mini. Only a few instant wide cameras have be produced thus far.

Over the past two years I have been following the Lomography website with its expansion of instant cameras that use the Instax film. Lomography produced a new line of cameras a well as a back for preexisting cameras to be able to use the Instax film. I do not have a camera like a Diana F+ or a Belair that I can just buy the back I would need to buy the camera and the back or a new instant camera.

In my mind the Lomo' Instant Wide is the top instant camera I have been constant reading about. I can do double exposures, colored flash and long exposures. With the extra lens attachments it can produce an ultra wide photo as well as a close up. Thinking of either the white or black camera (mostly white). The wide film is not as easy to come by as the mini.

While it is a little more expensive than the Lomo' Instant Wide my second choice is the InstantFlex TL70. The InstantFlex takes mini film unlike my first choice. This camera is modeled after a true twin lens reflex camera. The film ejects from inside the viewfinder area and the nameplate on the front flips around to reveal a flash.

I have been told that if you buy the Instax film in bulk that you will be able to save money compared to going locally and buying a pack at a time. It varies from place to place with the mini film but they do make fun bordered film rather than always have the classic white version. I have seen Star Wars film in the mini. With the wide one can only buy it with the white border. Bothe the mini and the wide to come in a black and white option.

I do love taking pictures with a shallow depth of field none of the cameras can do so. The Instaflex works with a f/5.6, f/8, f/16, f/22, f/bokeh aperture compared to the f/8 and f/22 the Lomo' Instant Wide produces. The f/5.6 is not bad as a standard aperture but since I do not use an f/22 on a normal slr camera I feel it would rarely be of use to me on this camera.

It might be a while before I make my decision on buying an instant camera. I would not be apposed to having some get it for me as a birthday or Christmas gift.
It was not exactly mine, it was a family computer. The computer came with a small CD-ROM Binder. The binder included a few educational games like Gizmos and Gadgets, word processing/presentation software and the encyclopedia.

I greatly remember a disc from the Hallmark company. It could do about anything creative; cards, banners, certificates, and more. Later on I got tired of the presets and began using the blank pages to do my own thing. The main feature inserting clipart and some word art. Clipart is a way of saying pre-made illustrations.

I was a fan of printing out anything an everything. The printer did not scare me. I was not afraid of ink. I graduated from the Hallmark into a few other programs that would make cards. The new program had a feature where you could edit the clipart. I spent many an hour recoloring the designs to get the right color. Ever seen a purple bear? Not exactly sure how many color schemes I went though or how many fonts I learned to like with this process.

By high school I still had a family computer. This computer change so much over the years as did my use of design programs. My dad knew of someone that could get us used copies of programs. I had Photoshop and Illustrator from Adobe. 98% of it was using Photoshop because I had acquired a few books on how to do some simple graphic techniques. I also had a photo magazine that had step-by-step instructions on how to edit photos. It showed how to crop photos and create different color effects. Little did I know that later on in my life I would be using Illustrator more than Photoshop.

My enjoyment of design and art came from a need to print especially custom greeting cards.

Talk to you later,
I have had things going through my head that I have wanted to write you about things going on lately. It is more of me being afraid of telling you rather than being lazy and not writing.

Here I go:

relationships

computers problems

design work

photography

exercise

With this being 2017 and I not being in a relationship I wanted to start over. I have been taking to some guys but never sure where it goes. They talk to me as if it is going to lead to a first date but they fade away. In the past week I found someone new to talk to. This one had lead to me going on a date/ hanging out with him in a few days. On the outside I am excited but on the inside I know not to get my hopes up.

Last year I had a computer problem with the new update. The Apple Store wiped my computer clean and did a clean install of the operating system. Since that incident I have been using Time Machine on my iMac. have not had to restore anything from it so far.

In the past week I found out that I had an external drive start failing on me. The bad way to notice it is when files start to disappear. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store told me to put the files on the Mac hard drive itself. Time Machine will take care of backing up the files. In the future, I would like to get a new portable external drive. Not a priority because life changed and I hardly have a place to transport the files; not going to school any more. I would still like something portable for those large files.

I have been doing a little design work from time to time as always. I find little projects I do for people but noting that major at this point. I keep up with what I like to do.

Photography is also keeping me busy. I have had two shows so far to display work in and I am working on a third. All I can say is that creativity takes time. Executing the photograph is the main chunk of the project when you do things as I do. I hope one photo will sell.

When feeling healthy I get back into exercising. I am sticking to the 5 days a week goal that I set for myself 95% of the time. It works for me as long as I watch what I eat and log it. My goal is to be more fit for a special event I have planned in June. Maybe, this goal makes me more fit.

Lately, I feel better about myself. Things can only get better.

Talk to you later,
I ended up getting sick. I was not eating. As a result of not eating or not eating the right things I got sick. I had a fever among other things. I wanted to rest in baed. After a few days I ended in urgent care. From there I went to the ER. The ER sent me into the hospital for observation over night.

One night ended in about 10 days. I have been out of the hospital for about 5 days now. I am recovering from a version of pneumonia where they had to take fluid from around my lung. From time to time my lung has a small pain that comes and goes. It last a minute or two. It is just my body healing slowly.

I am back up and moving. I do my exercises to make me stronger. What more can I do? I do not want to be stuck in a hospital bed with only tv to watch. Not my style.
I have had my setbacks most are my fault. Sad, but true. I am picking myself up and moving on.

I got back to tracking my weight, food, and exercise again by the beginning of November since I had been out of work for a few weeks. As soon as I started I hit a heavy downward spiral. I did try to keep myself sane food wise. By the end of the day I was always wanting more food – left hungry. Part if the problem was having the wrong calorie settings in the apps tracking my intake. I thought by eating less calories and exercising 75 minutes a day and getting in 11,000 steps I would be fine. Not true for me.

My main goal is to go hard with everything in the month of January once the holidays are over - jobs, exercise, and relationships. I find it difficult to do anything major till the end of the year. I am still going to watch my weight and make sure the holiday parties to not destroy me.

I was talking to a good friend and I told him about my camera situation and how things are taking a long time. I asked him, "What happens if the batteries for my camera are sent to me and I am still not satisfied with my camera? Is it fine to sell the camera and get something new?" We both agreed that I must be happy with whatever I have since I will be using it quite often. The reason I got the cameras was because I thought it was going to be something I would love since I liked all it had to offer. Part of the reason to find a job in January is to: continue investing in my future, saving for my short term goals, and just living everyday life. Don't worry, I budget things. Finding a new camera will be a short term goal but it will not be that short. I am not going to let this camera situation be a setback for me.

Relationships took a downfall. Not much to say in that department. I am glad I have some good friends to talk to even though we do not hang out as much as I would like.

What is something you tried recovering from this year?
Anything can be photographed. No need to wait for the moment when the moment is now. Now is all around us. On this journey of snapping and not thinking I fell more in like with the photos.

While on the journey I found a black an white style that I have become more comfortable with. This lead me to shoot the photos in black and white. I have been shooting in color for so long that I would like to get back to black and white. I was told that I do good photos in black and white. If only I did more! I can see a good amount of my photos from this upcoming year being shot in this black and white style.

I shot the photos with a depth of field f/4 or lower. A few of them have a slightly out of focus look which fascinate me. Take a look at the trees in the woods. I am not saying that every photo has to be out of focus (the rushing water). Somehow, I like the grain added to the mushroom. I like a grain that adds to the photo but is not overpowering. Even an out of focus photo with grain still looks good to me.

I have a few photos I need to produce for some upcoming events this next year. I can not wait to produce more photos if they are as fun to take as these photos were.
I sent it in with the battery and charger so that they can find the problem and get it repaired. I did not get the charger and battery back when they sent me the camera. This can be a problem. Not having my new camera made me want to take time to shoot some rolls of film. Yes, I did have my older digital camera I could use which I have been using sparingly. I have been watching/following some advanced photographers on YouTube as they talk about film photography. These photographers have some lessons I can relate to. The topics they talk about can be translated to digital photography because the techniques go above boundaries.

I have been with a local camera club for quite a number of years now and I have learned a number of lessons about how to handle a camera in manual mode as well as things on my own. I know about film speed/iso, aperture/depth of field, and shutter speed. These three things can be summed up as the exposure triangle. With my first digital camera I never thought about any part of the triangle. I let the camera do what it needed to in full auto mode. By my second digital camera I started to learn about parts of the exposure triangle. I have not quite mastered all three parts.

Shutter speed keeps giving me problems. In my mind I do not know correct timing for the right exposure. I always relied on the few second image review after taking the photo. I could then gauge if I needed more or less time so that what I was photographing would become correctly exposed, in my eyes. This is not an accurate way to take a photo because I lose time when reviewing and might miss something perfect. If I was to set the camera up like it was a film camera I would not have the advantages of instantly reviewing the shot. Film cameras sort of have the all or nothing feel.

The other day I came across a photography term called sunny 16. If you do not know what the term is then take time to watch this video. After having the video explain the technique I discovered a new way to look at the camera. I am slowly trying to find the correlation between the items on the exposure triangle. I like a shallow depth of field (F/4 or lower) for most of my photos. If I use a shallow depth of field to take my photo with a low iso (400 or less) then I try and calculate the correct exposure time. The sunny 16 gives me a jumping off point on how to calculate for the correct exposure.

I am going to keep a small notebook in my camera bag from now on so that I can have the sunny 16 rule with me as well as write down things that work or do not work for me when correctly exposing photos. Not everything works the same for every photographer. It all depends on your individual artistic style of taking photos. Sometimes you just want to take a correctly exposed picture and other times you want something more artistic. I find myself in a happy medium between the two nowadays.

Hoping to share with you what I learn along the way.
Summer vacations were a regular thing for me, even if it was only a week long. I remember spending time Salem, MA. It was only about a day or so but none the less it was still enjoyable when I was that young.

The town had some sort of antique/resale shop that peaked my interest. I got a few things from that shop. One of them was a hefty, metal peace sign belt buckle. The belt buckle was hand made in fashion with the hammered metal feel. When I got home I knew the exact belt I was going to use the buckle on. This belt came from one of the novelty venders at the county fair. It had a stamped design of eagles all around. I even had an arrow head eagle buckle on it. This buckle was no more. I took off the old buckle to use the new peace sign.

I had many problems with the belt buckle when I was using it at school. The buckle would come unattached. I remember in P.E. I had to keep adjusting it. I adjusted it so much that the teacher was wondering what I was doing. With this problem I stopped using the belt and the buckle. Years later after I started college I rediscovered the buckle. I got a belt that fit me. This made all the difference. The buckle never slipped off. The belt became something that I wore with every outfit I owned.

Recently, I got my Fitbit and I started watching what I eat. I was not "fat" but I was not in the most healthy state. This resulted in the belt and buckle not fitting quite right even though it was as tight as can be. I gave in and got a new belt. Along with the new belt came a new belt buckle. I ended up ordering this belt from Foster Weld and a customized copper wooden buckle from Shop Joyo.

Yes, I did mention that the belt buckle was customizable. I had some song lyrics from a Kimya Dawson song put into the wood. When read sideways the belt buckle reads "I am grounded | I am humbled | I am one with everything" These lyrics from the song are with me wherever I go. I am reminded to be better and do better. Overall, it is a fun song to sing as are all Kimya Dawson songs. I am sure that I will not buy a new belt or belt buckle for years.

Talk to you later, Bluelaugh
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3851623105976605146.post-46375346646354746832016-10-28T09:00:00.000-05:002016-10-28T09:00:00.894-05:00Load Up
Dear Kerby,

The one thing I like about film is that no two are the same. You can get the same roll of 120mm Portra film from Kodak, but it might turn out a little bit different due to the camera. The camera might cause light leaks and other things that make it unique. My medium format (120mm film) Holga is unpredictable because it is cheaply made. This might result in light leaks and other such unpredictable things with the film/camera.

If you work with film quite often you get to know a Fuji from a Kodak or any other brand. Some can look at a photo and tell what specific Fuji film is used. It takes the right kind of eye to know this. With current versions of photography, the goal is to capture the best crisp, correct exposure on a picture. For myself, it is hard to tell what type of digital camera took the photo by just looking at it.

In my mind, I want to take a series of photos, like you would with a roll of film. I would then edit them with the same filter/effect for every photo. My editing program of choice would be Lightroom. I have some presets I saved that look vintage and or film like. Right now my go to is a matte film look of some sort.

It can be hard to find the right black and white settings/film to suit my style. If I ever find the right settings I would love to shoot in black and white again.

Overall, I would like to take more “snapshots” in my daily life.
These are all companies that produce vegetarian food. The first company I got hooked on was Boca. The Boca company makes two veggie burgers and a chicken patty that I was introduced to. These were the basic of my existence when cooking on my own while living at the dorms. I later found MorningStar Farms products. The MorningStar Farms company sells more than burgers. They make meat crumble for tacos, chili and much more. They also make meatballs, breakfast sausages (links and patties), veggie dogs, bacon, and other varieties of meatless style meat. Some of the MorningStar Farms products can be stand alone like the ribs with sauce or in a recipe like the meatballs. Gardein is very Similar to MorningStar Farms except that is has beef tips, veggie fish, turkey cutlets, and fancy main dishes.

I eat these products more than anything else because I find it easier than making a vegetarian recipe. From time to time I make things from scratch when I have extra money. It can add up when you need to buy individual ingredients for every meal. Sad. I like making a veggie meatloaf from scratch. Not many other things do I make from scratch unless it is a special day. I have used the recipes on the websites from Gardein before but that is different than than from scratch.

When I got my new issue of the vegetarian magazine I saw an ad for Lightlife. The ad features a ground beef/meat crumble option. This made me think of the other meat crumbles by the previous mentioned companies. For some reason I had to research Lightlife and find out if they are just a copy of a vegetarian company that already exists. The more satisfying thing that they do different is a veggie style lunch meat. Part of me thinks that this will not be the best thing ever but I am still curious to have a taste. Luckily, sites like these show you where you can buy their products.

The vegetarian isle seems to be growing after I found out which local store (Kroger) sells products from this newly featured company (that had been around a while). Most stores near me that have a vegetarian section do not feature vegetarian items like they would with other products. It might have to do with not many people in my area being vegetarian. At times if I do not take time to look for vegetarian products I will miss them (that is how small the vegetarian section is). When I was living in the dorms I had stopped into an unfamiliar grocery store and it took forever to find the vegetarian section, but I eventually did.

Not sure what new vegetarian company will emerge next. When they do I hope that they make a product different than what is already in stores. Some times I guess it is the Pepsi vs Coke debate all over again.
The Nikon DF has been super fun and easy to use digital camera. I am loving it. I have been using a lot of different lenses including my Diana Super Wide and a Diana glass lens. Knowing the basics of the lenses on the camera give me more of a challenge to make my photos interesting. I enjoy the more snap shot artistic looking photos. To tell you how much I love this camera I recently purchased a battery grip and two batteries for the grip for longer shoot times. Currently waiting for the grip and batteries to arrive in the mail.

In the past year I tried to use the instant back for my Holga and got some bad results. I also found out that Fuji was stopping production of its peel apart film, the film that works with this accessory. This Medium format Holga has not been in use since someone (meaning a film lab) developed my negatives wrong. Matt Day did a review on the Lomo'Instant Wide camera and I kind of wanted to try one out after the review ended. Most likely the only way to try out the camera is to buy it. I do not know anyone that owns this particular camera. I do like that it uses the Fuji instant wide film instead of the mini.

I went searching online for a camera that takes the instant wide film other than the Fuji brand Instax cameras and found a few that I am exploring. One of the cameras happens to be the Belair camera with the instant back while the other is, you guessed it, the Lomo'Instant Wide. I have pros and cons for getting a modern instant camera.

PROS

I will have a modern instant film camera. It is hard to find film for my other instant film cameras.

Both cameras have interchangeable lenses.

The cameras use the instant wide film.

Lomo'Instant Wide comes with colored flash filters and a splitter for creative multiple exposures. Overall fun accessories and experimentation.

You have a lasting memory.

Similar to an SLR camera.

CONS

The cost of having to buy film.

What to do with all the photos after they are taken.

It is not digital. This means that you can not experiment and delete pictures. Once you click the shutter you better like your picture.

How often will the camera be used?

By no means, if I get this camera, do I see this camera replacing my Nikon. I tell people I have various cameras because each one produces a different outcome.
At that time in my life a lot of things were about being open about my sexuality. I wrote several letters taking about sexuality. Things have changed since that time on my own in college.

After dating a few guys and having an ex I found a man that I do not want to give up. The good things I love about him outweigh all the not so good that comes with him. I have been seeing him since 2013 and continue to see him on a somewhat regular basis. Things have changed over the years. This relationship is a difficult thing between us. He never gives up on me; some days I would like to give up on him (I come close) but never do. He is always on my mind through the good and the bad.

This summer I started another job and that means new people in my life (on a regular basis). My coworkers have some interesting conversations about the opposite sex and relationships. I feel like I am back in high school. A coworker asked me earlier this week if I had a girlfriend. I told her I did not have one. Then, they asked me when the last time I had a "girlfriend" and I told her it was the night of the 8th grade dance. I knew this girl for years and it seemed important to have a date to the dance but we hardly danced together. It felt awkward. Another coworker invited me to her birthday coming up in September. She asked about me bringing a girl. I never once mentioned my boyfriend. I do not know why.

Telling my coworkers I am gay is not one of those things that comes up when my (straight) coworkers talk about their significant other. Sometimes I find it a tad hard bring up in a conversation. By no means am I afraid of who I am. I feel it is no body's business but mine who I date. I have to live with my choices. If you see me with my boyfriend or find out about him somehow then that is fine. Feel free to talk to me about him if you want. I will not get upset. When I am with him we are not the couple to show public affection. The most you might see us do is holding hands. His hands are the best because they fit right inside mine. You might just think he is a friend. I might have to correct you on that, if I feel like it.

In a few weeks time my current job will be gone and I will be around a new group of people. I am not sure what to say to them. I might feel the same way as I do now because who I am inside is not rapidly changing even though my life on the outside is.
The paste worked extremely well about 95% of the time. I had a few sweat issues that did not last long. After I went through two small jars of paste in two months time I switched to the stick. I find the stick to have the same strong scent as the paste. I took off my black shirt from work and found white pit stains. I put the deodorant on after putting the shirt on. What gives? I am going to see how long the stick last compared to the paste. Still loving the deodorant.

In June my mom got me some new white record dividers for my ever growing record collection. She sent them with my brother to have labels painted on them. I have not seen them since. Most likely August will come and go and I will not see them. I need to reorganize my records when the dividers come in just to make sure I have the right categories when I checked my genres a while back.

Due to me working on editing photos, working at the restaurant, and looking for a new job I have not had the time to use my new camera. I would love to get familiar with it before assigning myself to do multiple photo shoots. I could read the manual all day and change all the settings I like to make it "my camera" but that does not make me an expert. Every place I go challenges me with the camera settings I need to use.

This guy at work is still being a flirt/tease. He has this personality that makes you love him and joke around with him. From time to time he drops subtle hints that he is into women but he does not actually come out and say it. I get the hint from him some times when I go a little too far on the "gay" comments. I started seeing him at the restaurant where I work back in June and he started working with us in July. He works up stairs at the bar and I work in the kitchen. He is one of those fit muscle guys that cane not keep his hand off the food. As a result of that he is constantly in the kitchen. It is not that I can really have him because I have a man of my own.

I can not believe "summer" is over and the school buses are back on the roads. I recall the days I was in public school and all the memories come crashing into one giant looped highlight reel.
I was asked the first time what I wanted for my birthday. I told my mom I wanted a set of dividers for my records. That was fine. She got them. My brother has them so that he can paint the correct genre labels on them. Closer to my birthday my mom asked me again what I wanted for my birthday. I told her I was saving up for a camera. I was looking for a used model, body only. When my mom asked what the used prices were I knew something was going to happen.

My mom had me on eBay one weekend searching for the Nikon DF camera I wanted at a price she could afford. I lost one auction but then made an offer on another. When the offer expired I put a bid on another camera with a body, lens, and battery. It was a refurbished camera with the whole package. I was surprised that my mom wanted to spend that money on a new camera for me. I offered to pay for part of it due to it being a tad more than she thought it would be. Later on I got my money back when she decided to pay 100% of the cost.

Later on after my birthday I got an Amazon gift card. This went to buying a camera card a bag. The seller had bag dimensions that were close to the size of the camera bag insert size. To my knowledge the insert would fit in any bag that was the right size to turn it into a camera bag. This particular insert was described a shockproof as well as padded. Moving over to ETSY I found a camera strap. I would say that this strap is made from the webbing strips of the old folding lawn chairs. The strap has three stripes: navy blue, light blue, and copper brown. I am waiting for the packages to arrive so I can use the camera.

With the new camera came more pixels and a larger size. This means that I might have to resize the photos to fit on the internet. I hope that this does not become a problem. I am looking forward to higher quality prints and maybe going with larger frames every once in a while. I like my double 12x24 inch frame and I might not give that up any time soon.

I have no plans to give up my Nikon 1 V1 camera any time soon. I love the cameras compact size and ability to take video (not that I do much video). I plan to keep it in the same case/bag as a grab and go option for when I want to use the camera, this is partly why I am getting a new bag for the new camera.
I have yet to use it and test it out. It is hard to test it out when I do not have the programs to open the raw files that my camera produces. I have gone back to working with my old Nikon D70 just out of curiosity.

Using the lens on the Nikon D70 allows me to achieve the wider view as compared to the cropped sensor of the Nikon 1 V1 camera.

Going back to my old camera I realize that it is only 6mp, which might have been an advancement when I purchased the camera. The Nikon 1 V1 is 10mp.

It might be a nice lens but I am not sure I am going it justice by putting it on a low resolution camera body or one that crops the wideness of the lens

I have multiple Nikon lenses and accessories for Nikon cameras but it might be time to look for a camera body that can handle the wide view of the lens as well as give me more resolution, in megapixels, for making bigger prints. The V1 has been fine for many a years but a new camera body might be in the future. I will continue to use my V1 for years to come because I love most of its features. Maybe I can get some video footage with the super-wide lens attached to my V1.
This is something I would need to plan into my budget and not forget the other items that my money will be going to.

My first small purchase would be a few camera cards. I am looking at another SD card card for my Nikon1 V1. The card would have to be of a higher complicity so I do not rely on the computer. On the flip side I have an old Nikon D70 which takes a Compact Flash card. I feel this format has died out due to the ease of destroying the little needle like pins that the card mush make contact to read/write to the card. In my mind I would like to pick up that camera and start to use it again. A few of my manual lenses would work with ease on the D70 without the need for an adapter.

A medium size purchase would be to get some sort of a ringflash. A ringflash is a "doughnut" or ring of light that sits on the end of a lens. The flash like light effects the image coming into the camera. With the light sitting closer it does not create dark shadows like a traditional flash sitting farther away on top of the camera. The Nikon1 system of cameras has an accessories port rather than a standard hot shoe making it difficult to trigger the ringflash. Lomography website sells a ringflash that comes with a set of colored filters to create fun colored photos. On the other side, Photojojo sells a more sophisticated and professional ringflash. This flash attaches to the front of the lens with a series of screw on adapters. Sorry, no filters.

The larger of the purchases would be to get a new lens. Yes, I said new. The lenses I have a mostly manual and have been either given to me on have been purchased used/as is. The only electronic lenses I have are the ones that came with either camera body. The new lens I am looking into is the Petzval 85. I have not found another lens that I am into at the moment. The lens not only functions as a lens to take crisp clean photos but has an artistic side.
Hope you find these interesting. If I think of it, I might share some more in another letter.

In graphic design I go more ivory white than pure white.

I am into surf culture even though I do not surf.

Old surf rock music interests me. I started listening to it ever since I heard a copy of The Alantics. I occasionally listen to surf rock style Christmas music.

My Crosley record player looks like a suitcase. It is able to play three speeds of records. The suitcase style makes it extremely portable.

One of my go to colors can be C 23, M 2, Y 0, K 11 or C 32, M 0, Y 6, K 21. Think of robins egg blue or seafoam green colors.

I like the physical and tactile over the digital.

I am not into wrestling but over the years I have had a luchador book bag, luchador cookie cutters, and a shirt of a pug wearing a luchador mask.

I have been a pescatarian since about 2008. This is a person who does not eat meat but does eat fish (seafood). I drink non-dairy milk but eat cheese.

In 2010 when I got my record player I can not count how many times I played the Juno soundtrack or the album Remember that I Love You by Kimya Dawson. It must be because I enjoy Kimya's soothing sound. Most likely two of my most played records that I purchased new.

I own a pinhole lens for my camera. I do not think I successfully used it for anything other than test shots.

The only true podcast I have listen to over the years is Hyper Nonsense. I have never found another podcast that interests me. Most podcast sound like boring talk radio. I sometimes list to Psychobabble.

I am not sure why. I must have seen a logo, design, or inspiration that sparked my creativity. I am talking about designs that would look electric, neon, metallic, and full of 1980s nostalgia.

My friend ended up not liking the tests on the chance that this was not an appropriate style.

In the past year the Pinterest app on my iPad has been used more times than I can remember. Hardly used it before last year. I have now been using the app to find design inspirations all over the place. I even now have a board for inspirations of the 1980s style designs I am talking about.

Some of the designs remind of using 90s Microsoft Word's "word art" feature. Others remind me graphic design/layer styles in early instances of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. These programs featured premade gradients that were complex (to me) to produce. I, myself, never used them. Designs I produce relate to themes, feelings, color schemes, and specific design styles. I remember designing a Native American style for a school project. I even done designs related to decades. I am not sure why but I can not say I have my own distinctive design style.

One of my goals with Illustrator is to master the effects panel so that I can always have live type. Live type will hep me if I want to try the same effect on a variety of fonts. Repatriating the same steps over and over can be time consuming. Some of the 1980s styles are heavy in layers and effects when deconstructed.

I feel my go to style is rooted in classic design from the 50s and 60s and sometimes even earlier than this. I fine myself starting to add some rustic elements into the mix. What is one style that you always come back to? Does one style define you or are you a collection of different styles?
I have been working on some of my art while going through some things.

Here is a screen shot of some of the elements that I have been working for the (dessert) taco truck I am designing. Yes, this truck sells dessert tacos. This is a project for my portfolio. An artist online was nice enough to share a truck template that anyone can use to turn into mock-up of a food truck. This project is fun to do and has me thinking all the time about every decision I make. Hope to show you more later on.

Since I have been out of high school I have been a vegetarian. It has been a struggle to find places to go out to eat and things to eat on the menu. Most places put at least one vegetarian item on the menu because they have to.

In this time I have made my share of vegetarian meals at home. Some of these meals could have been family meals but failed. No one else in the house cares to eat vegetarian food but me. My mom freaks out if she does not have meat in her meal but yet she has made me meatless meals before. My dad calls my cooking weird from time to time.

Now and again we have pizza night at the house. My mom puts a sausage pizza in the over for her and my dad and a cheese pizza for me. We get the simple pizzas from Aldi and sometimes I like it that way. Lately my mom has been adding more cheese to the pizzas. Last time we had pizza night I knew something tasted weird about the pizza. I told my mom not to add more cheese. I am the only eater of the cheese pizza. Would be different if someone talked to me about adding more cheese.

Pizza night happened again and so did my mom. The pizza was once again ruined with more cheese. I mad funny faces as I ate the pizza due to the more cheese. I am not here for her to judge her about eating her meat so do not screw up what I eat. I wanted to say something this time but I kept quiet as not to start a fight.

Mom dominates the kitchen and when food is not cooked by her she freaks out. I have cooked in replace of my mom on occasion. She feels the need to pester me every step of the way to make sure I am up to her standards. I would like to cook now and again for other people to let them know that I can do something.

The guy I am dating does not have a problem with my vegetarian cooking he eats it all the time. I have tried new recipes on date night and has enjoyed them. He has eaten vegetarian meatloaf (store bought) , faux chicken, faux beef, and many varieties of veggie burgers. When I get a pace of my own I will make more meals like this even when guests come over.

What would you do if someone messed up your meal? Have you ever tried a vegetarian meal before?

Talk to you later,
They arrived on Tuesday - all fifty of them. She liked them. I think I should have tacked on a design fee like I would charge a regular client.

I have my Adobe CC programs for a few more days. I have to decide if I want to renew or cancel the programs based how much money I currently have.

In this time if having the programs I have been working on designs for myself. One of them needed color advice. I asked my mom what color to use; it was between two colors. The first thing out of her mouth was, "And who are you doing this for?"

I am glad I did not answer that question because she would have started drama. Can I not do what I want to? I went to school for this and this is something for me to better myself at. It makes be feel good doing some design work now and again even if it is for myself.

I have a few items I have been saving to get printed for my portfolio. This would be one of them when it is finally finished.

I was using Pantone swatches and could not decide if I wanted a warm gray or a cool gray. This is what made me go to my mom. I have one color in mind but have yet to make the ultimate decision.

How do you feel when you go to someone for advice and they shoot you down?

Talk to you later,
Runny nose and slight cough. Today I still have the sickness but it is not the same. I have had long spans of not coughing, sneezing, or running nose today. That must say something about me getting better. On top of this I have no fever.

Since I have been sick I have not been on the computer like I wanted to be. I paid for one month of the Adobe CC and I see the programs are not used to the full potential. The last project I worked on were business cards for my mom. Some designed her business cards years ago. She is either out of them and can not get more or just needs a new design.

I have yet to finish some of the projects I started working on several months ago. I started them when I worked with the programs more often. Maybe I will make progress before this next months payment comes due. I have to make the decision soon to renew or cancel the programs.

wish I could find a job so I would not have to worry about this problem.

Not sure what to think at this point.
I currently live with my parents. My mom can be a two faced double crosser. She says one thing and does the opposite. She is mad or some form of negative most of the time and I try and stay away from it.

If I do not say good morning to her she will try and wreck the day. What is wrong with a quiet, peaceful morning?

When she wants to get mad she tells me that the dogs are hers. From time to time she wants me to feed them and pickup after them.

My nephew comes over several times a week. He wants to have fun with his grandmother. My mom is not the fun type. She is on the couch watching television most likely. I am the bad person for trying to take care of my nephew. I just stop caring and go about with my own thing.

I have tried many times to vacuum when she is around and I get in trouble with her for using the wrong vacuum. She has two vacuums and they both operate the same way. Who needs to own two vacuums?

I was in the bathroom the other day with the fan on and door closed. This means that I can only hear myself think. My mom yells from the bottom thinking I can hear her. I never heard a word she said. She comes back later thinking I heard what she said. At this point she is mad with me because I am not talking to responding. If this were me, I would not yell across the house. She has to understand that I might be sleeping, listening to music, or have headphones on.

I dare not use the phone when I am upstairs because my conversations are not private. She thinks I am using cellphone minutes (when I had the old phone plan). This is also why I do not voice chat on my computer when she is around. I go to my car and use the phone.

At a certain time of the night it is quiet time. I respect quiet time when she is in bed sleeping but If I want to be up I should have the right to be.

I am not safe working on my computer. She says I do nothing all day and I am lazy. Not my fault that you are so anti-computer.

I can not write an email for my dad due to my parents sharing an email. My mom goes through all the emails as if they are hers.

Do not freak out over stupid stuff. My mom will over analyze everything.

I am not saying that I am the best person in the world. I just want to live a different lifestyle than my mom. Her life is hers not mine. I respect everyone in different ways.

How do you deal with someone you are not so fond of?

Talk to you later,
